Sub – Zero Ice Skate Club

sub - zero ice skating entranceAfter Bangkok having several new ice skate rinks over the past few years, it is now Chiang Mai’s turn to join this rather slippery sport in Thailand.

The new ice skate rink, Sub-Zero opened late 2013 in Central Festival and is, for now, the only ice skating possibility in Chiang Mai and the north of Thailand.

A brand new, smooth and shiny ice rink measuring 20 x 40 meters that can oblige to up to 300 skaters. If they manage to keep standing up since this sport is relatively new for most Thais and takes some balancing skills.

central sub – zero on iceIn case you are a beginning skater, there are skating classes and other packages as well as group classes available so you can learn how to handle yourself on the ice and avoid possible injuries.

You can rent skates on an hourly or daily basis and unless there are ice skating competitions in place you can slide on the ice daily from 10.30 am till 10.00 pm on a normal day.

Sub-Zero hosts theme days on a regular basis such as disco days and glow-in-the-dark sessions and these can be very entertaining in a typical Thai “sanook” way.

Cool down and go slippin’ and sliding in Central Festival on the third floor.
