Better known as as Suan Dok Hospital, Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital is part of Chiang Mai University. It is a public government hospital which explains why it can be quite crowded. In the Sri Phat Medical Center patients with more severe issues are treated. Full service medical checkups are also performed here. The Emergency division at Sri Phat is probably the first place most people will go to for immediate treatment. The doctors over here are generally first class.

Located not so far from Suan Dok Hospital, Chiang Mai Ram is the largest private hospital in town and is part of the Ramkhamhaeng Group of Hospitals. The hospital houses many world class doctors. Almost any medical service is offered; health check-ups, dermatology, cardiac, dental and obstetric care, fertility, knee and hip replacements, and cosmetic surgery. Compared to the West this is an all service hospital with private rooms at reasonable prices.

Lanna Hospital, located on the Super Highway, is a smaller hospital, but it is also affiliated with Chiang Mai University’s Faculty of Medicine. Many excellent doctors practice here in far less crowded conditions than the main Suan Dok teaching hospital. The hospital has 24 full- and 11 part-time doctors specializing in a variety of areas, offering a range of services from health check-ups to both inpatient and outpatient care.
